First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous EARTHQUAKE DRILL (March 11, 2021)

The Lokeb Norte Elementary School conducted a First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill  last March 11, 2021 at 2:00 in the afternoon lead by the School DRMM Coordinator Mrs. Riza D. Salomon and our principal Mrs. Rowena G. Fernandez.

Earthquake is one among the most ruinous calamities; it is an unpredictable catastrophe. It happens in times we do not know and in places we do not expect. Whenever this occurs, everybody is defenseless; everyone is vulnerable; all are at risk particularly the young and the old.  In just few minutes it can end numerous lives; shatter homes and residences; tear down properties; wreck service lines; everything will be paralyzed and devastated.

Prior the drill, participants were oriented with the proper way of doing the “Duck, Cover and Hold Technique”. It was explained to them that going out calmly is important to avoid stampede that may lead to bigger trouble. They were also practiced to stay under sturdy table in case they cannot manage to get out of their houses during the shaking. But we emphasized to the participants that in case of an actual earthquake, they should not be frightened and panic. We also reminded them to pray, for it is the foremost weapon.
